2026 GCNZ Awards

The 2026 GCNZ Awards will be announced at the Conference and Awards Dinner to be held on Friday 4 September.

There are three main award categories and eligible organisations may submit more than one entry in each category. Finalists in each category who are not winners or runners-up are eligible to submit the same entry again in the immediate subsequent year. Finalists will be notified of their eligibility under this clause.

Entry is open to financial members of Global Cities New Zealand

Entries open 1 August 2026 and close 21 August 2026

The Board of Global Cities New Zealand (Inc) appreciates the generous and practical support for the Awards by Air New Zealand.

Air New Zealand remains the preferred carrier for Global Cities New Zealand.


Award Categories

Best Project

Community & School Members

This category is for

  • Projects initiated by community members. It is for all initiatives other than projects with a commercial focus. For example, cultural, sport, recreation, education, tourism, art etc.

And

  • Projects initiated by schools. It is for all initiatives other than projects with a commercial focus. For example, cultural, sport, recreation, education, tourism, art etc.

 

Community Committees/Boards who work collaboratively with their local council may be eligible for this award. The GCNZ

Board will consider the relationship of the committee/board to their council and who they are resourced by. The GCNZ Board retains the right to decide whether a committee/board falls under the community category or Local Government category. You may apply for both.

Best Project

Local Government and Corporate Members

This category is for Local Government and

Corporate members. It is for all initiatives other than projects with a

commercial focus. For example, cultural, sport, recreation, education, tourism,

art etc.

Best Commercially Focussed Project

All Members

This category is for all members who initiate a project with a commercial focus. It is to recognise initiatives that have had a positive economic / commercial impact.
